People are fascinating, and the way we interact with the world around us is so unique. There’s so much that goes into how we experience life, and so much that shapes us.
For example, I grew up with Indian parents who were really into Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. Which means I’m attuned to racism and the way I’m perceived as a brown person, but I’m also a nerd who slips pop culture references into everything.
Both of these aspects of my identity affect how I interact with the world around me. My goal is to explore how technology, politics, relationships, traditions (among other factors) shape our understanding of our society and ourselves. How else am I supposed to figure out how the discourse surrounding food environmentalism affects my sandwich-making habits?
One of the major factors I want to focus on is digital media. Digital media is a growing phenomenon that pervades everything and connects all of us through technology. It makes information more accessible and has the potential to help a lot of people.
However, for all its benefits, there are also a lot of issues. Technology and digital media can affect our perceptions of reality. Social media, while it brings people together, also creates echo chambers and spreads misinformation. Why do you think there are people renting boats to see the ice wall that surrounds our “flat earth”?
These interactions between people and digital media fascinate me. After all, I’m interacting with digital media right now. It’s how I’m able to talk to you – an audience I haven’t even met.
And it’s not just for my own entertainment. With new improvements and technological innovations, understanding these relationships is vital to understanding potential problems and solutions for the future.
We live in an increasingly digital world. It’s becoming more and more important to focus on the effects of digital media on people – their social lives and their behavior – and its impacts on society as a whole.
